Maintenance Tips for Garden Sheds

Posted on September 6th, 2011

A well looked after garden shed can act as an attractive and useful addition to your garden whilst an old, deteriorating shed can have quite the opposite effect. If your garden shed has been neglected and could benefit from a maintenance makeover to return it back to its glory days, here at Yarnton Leisure Buildings we have some ideas for you to bring your garden sheds Oxford back to life.

We are a family-run business with 20 years of experience in the industry and pride ourselves on our excellent selection of outdoor buildings including our range of garden sheds. However, if you are reluctant to discard your old faithful shed, we have devised some maintenance tips to avoid the need to find a replacement.

Relieve your shed of all that junk!

Over time, your shed may have transformed into something that resembles a small landfill, a place you’ve turned to in order to hide away all sorts of unwanted rubbish that you’ve been reluctant to throw away. An old broken lawnmower is a typical example of an item that takes up space unnecessarily. To free up space in your shed, go through all of the rubbish that has built up over the years and decide which items to keep and which to throw away. You need to be ruthless, don’t cling onto rubbish just for the sake of it.

Once you have tidied up the inside of your shed, it is time focus on the exterior. After all the outside of your shed is what can compliment or ruin the appearance of your garden.

Paint your shed

If your shed has developed a sun-faded look, a touch of paint can improve the aesthetic value of your shed dramatically. You can be as bold or original as you like with your personal colour choice.

Apply a Varnish Coating

Alternatively, you can apply varnish to rejuvenate your wooden shed and protect it against damaging weather conditions.

These are just some maintenance tips to consider in order to restore your old garden sheds Oxford. For more maintenance tips and information regarding our excellent range of garden buildings, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at Yarnton Leisure Buildings on 01865 379290.
